Getting started with the portal
Open the portal
Use the Sign in button on this site, on a phone or a computer (Chrome, Safari or Edge).
Enter the username and password given by your administrator. The eye icon shows what you typed.
Follow your sites
Live video, alerts and sensors update in real time. Alerts arrive instantly; remote video runs a few seconds behind live.
The screens
- Dashboard
- System state (armed or disarmed), alarm mute and test, latest alerts.
- Wall
- Live video of every camera, with boxes around what the AI detects.
- Safety
- Temperature, humidity and alarms from the sensor boxes.
- History
- Every alert with its snapshot; open one for details.
- Clips
- Short videos recorded automatically around each alert.
- Analytics
- Counts by hour: people, vehicles, fire and smoke alerts.
- Cameras
- The camera list (adding or changing cameras: administrators only).
When a fire or smoke alert appears
- Look: open the alert, then the camera's live video. Is it a real fire or smoke?
- If it is real, call the emergency services and follow your site's emergency plan. Don't wait for the system to do it.
- Acknowledge the alert in the portal so your team knows it is being handled.
- False alarm (steam, grey wall, light)? Acknowledge it and tell your administrator, so detection can be improved.

For installers
Install the platform
The whole system runs on one computer at the site, on Windows, macOS or Linux. One command does the setup.
Install Docker Desktop and Flutter, and put the computer on the same Wi-Fi as the cameras.
Download the code and run: pyroeye install (Windows) or ./pyroeye install (macOS, Linux).
Choose the admin password when asked, then open the printed link on your phone.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do we need a powerful computer or a GPU?
No. The AI runs on an ordinary computer's processor; 4 cores and 8 GB of memory are enough for a first site.
Which cameras work with ForestEye?
Any IP camera that provides an RTSP stream. H.264 is recommended, and existing cameras can often be reused.
Does it work without internet?
Yes on site: detection and the local alarm work on the local network. Internet is only needed to follow the sites remotely.
How fast is the alarm?
In our tests, the on-site alarm sounds about 0.2 s after an alert is raised, and the portal shows it at the same moment.
What about false alarms?
Each detection must pass several checks (colour, persistence, movement) before becoming an alert. Operators can mark false alarms, and the model can be fine-tuned on each site's images.
Where is our data stored?
On your own server or with the hosting provider you choose, including in Algeria, in line with Law 18-07 on personal data.
Does it replace our certified fire alarm system?
No. ForestEye adds early visual detection and remote alerts on top of your existing safety equipment; fire regulations still require certified detectors and alarms.
What about outdoor or remote sites without Wi-Fi or power?
Solar-powered units with GSM and long-range radio links are on our roadmap. The current prototype uses Wi-Fi and mains power.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the area and the number of monitoring points. Contact us for a quote or a pilot.
